Cassandra is a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation, born on the Pine Ridge Reservation, and proudly grown in Oyuhpe (Manderson, SD.) She graduated from Red Cloud High School and is a first-generation college student currently enrolled at The University of Oklahoma’s School of Social Work. Before pursuing a degree, Cassandra worked in mortgage servicing for several years where she witnessed how Capitalism is exploiting communities of all colors across the nation. She is passionate about raising the esteem of Indigenous nations and ancestral wisdom on a macro level. Cassandra envisions a future that decolonizes and embraces traditional ways of healing within the social work field. Cassandra appreciates authenticity and enjoys sharing her lived experiences to empower others.
