Certificate in Applied Tribal Sovereignty for Rebuilder Alumni
In partnership with UMD’s Tribal Sovereignty Institute, NGC is pleased to offer an opportunity for Rebuilder alumni to attend a week-long program on Applied Tribal Sovereignty.
The Certificate of Applied Tribal Sovereignty (CATS) program provides a new opportunity for alumni of NGC’s Rebuilders program to continue strengthening their leadership work and deepen their understanding of Tribal governance and nation rebuilding. The program features a streamlined, practical design that equips participants with frameworks and tools applicable to their ongoing governance work. Core topics include: principles of tribal sovereignty, federal Indian law and policy, public speaking, strengths-based leadership, strategic management, community engagement, constitutional reform, project management and funding, and foundations of tribal board governance.
Selected participants will complete the Certificate of Applied Tribal Sovereignty (CATS) through the Tribal Sovereignty Institute at the University of Minnesota Duluth campus while learning alongside fellow Rebuilders alumni. The partnership was directly inspired by feedback from our alumni, who expressed a strong desire for ongoing engagement and continued support from Native Governance Center. The program is specifically curated for leaders who are committed to applying the principles of Native Nation Rebuilding in their work, organizations, and Tribal communities.
Participants will engage in learning that strengthens their ability to lead with purpose, build strong institutions, and support long-term impact within their communities.
