Cultivating the Next Generation of Leaders
Youth Rebuilders is a new, youth-centered component of our Leadership Development program area. Youth Rebuilders evolved from the Native Nation Rebuilders Program (our flagship program for Native leaders ages 25+) as a way to equip Native youth with nation building training and develop the next generation of Native leaders.
We ultimately want to change the conversation that we so often hear in Tribal communities from short-term, “standard approach” thinking to long-term, strategic thinking. We believe that youth can play an important role in this shift. Youth Rebuilders will empower young people to consider their visions for the future and the contributions that they hope to make to their communities. Youth Rebuilders is a three-day summer experience that equips Native youth with nation building training, inspires civic responsibility, and encourages participants to dream big.
In 2018, we’ll admit up to 20 participants from a single youth council and bring the programming directly to the council’s home community for the program’s pilot year.
Applications for our pilot year are now closed. Please stay tuned for more information about applications for our 2019 Youth Rebuilders Program.
